Dear Dumb Diary, Am I the Princess or the Frog?
Book Review
Shannon Spielman
I read the book Dear Dumb Diary, Am I the Princess or the Frog? by Jim Benton. It is a comical fiction book. This is number three in a series of Dear Dumb Diary books. I don’t know how many there are all together but so far I have read numbers one through three.
All of the books are about a 6th grade girl named Jamie who has funny things happen to her at her middle school. This book deals with her having to do a project in art class that has to do with photos. The projects are going to be displayed on the cafeteria wall. Her best fried Isabel’s project is about how people look like their pets. Jamie tries to talk her out of out of it because she doesn’t want her picture up by the picture of her ugly dog. Her friend doesn’t change and they get in a big fight. Read the rest to find out what happens.
I like this book because it is about a girl in 6th grade and I can relate to that. I think that anybody beginning middle school would like these books but they are definitely geared towards girls. I didn’t think this book in the series was as exciting or funny as the first two. This book kind of reminds me of the Judy Moody series that I read when I was in third grade. I would read other books by this author. I have already read three and I want to read more.

I read the book Double Fudge by Judy Blume. This book is about two brothers, Peter and Fudge. Fudge is completeley obsessed with money. The boys meet up with their long lost cousins, one of which has the same name as Fudge. As a matter of fact, he acts exactly like the older Fudge did.
I hope you like this book.

STORMBREAKER BY: Anthony Horowitz. Spy Novel. I enjoy this book since their isn't a boring part in the whole book, there is just a lot of action in every page.
STORMBREAKER is a very action packed book a kid named Alex who ived with his uncle because both of his parents had past away. it had all started when the police came to the house telling him that his uncle had died in a car accident. Alex goes to investagate and finds out his uncle was murdered. one day he finds himself in the bank to find out about his uncle's will. there he is drugged and brought him sumewhere in the middle of no where he finds out his uncle was a spy. Then Alex finds himself being recruited as a spy to finish what his uncle had started.
I enjoyed this book very much because of all the action. Anyone who likes to read books with action and mystery on there hands would love this book. I can't wait to get the ext book in the series to find out what happens next.
TANGERINE By: Edward Bloor. This book is a drama about a boyS life who has to move from houston to tangerine county Florida. I enjoy this book and i wish there was a second book after it.
This book i s about a boy amed Paul Fisher who has to move from hoston to FL. He leads a normal life in Eric Fishers football plan. he leads a normal life except for the fact that his brother is evil and his school just went down a sinkhole. Pau Fisher ends up at the enemies school instead of staying in the designated split classes where he still can't play soccer. Once he switches schoola and makes the team good a nd bad things happen.
I like this book because it tells how an average kid strugges with his life and makes it better. Anyone who likes a drama book just not as sappy would like this book. Ilook forward to reading more books written by this author.
THE WESTING GAME By: Elen Raskin. This book is good for people who like mystery books. Iliked the book because i wanted to find out who murdered Mr.Westing before the characters did.
As I wrote before this is mystery book, it's about how regular people like you and me were supposed to play a game to find out who murdered Mr.Westings. Whoever found out who murdered him would get 200 million dollars from his will. their are many tricks about the game some said it was in a song others in stocks. The problem in the game was two things one person wasn't supposed to be their and was selected by mistake the other one you'll have to find out yourself.
I liked many things about his book, but thing I enjoyed the most was trying to figure out who murdered Mr. westing before the book ended. anyone who enjoys a good mystery book would like this book.Once I find out if this author has written anything else I would probably read it.
Maniac McGee
Book Review
I recently read the book Maniac McGee, by Jerry Spinelli. It is considered a folk story and was the winner of the Newbery Award in 1991. I really enjoyed reading this story. I was very interested in all of Maniac's abilities and how he adapted to issues in his life.
Maniac McGee is the Story of a young boy who faces many challenges in his life. The loss of parents, a best friend and confronting race issues in a small fictional town. Maniac is quiet the legend to youngsters throughout this community.
I enjoyed how Maniac confronted many obstacles and over came them with great skill. I had difficulty accepting how the author always made Maniac feel lonely throughout his life. I believe this a great story for all ages and I would love to read more stories by Jerry Spinelli.

Turnabout by Margaret Peterson
Book Review
Victoria VAlleau
In the year 2000 Melly and Anny Beth had reached old age and were preparing to pass away. Then, the two were offered the chance to be young again by taking part in a secret experiment called Project Tournabout. The two agreed to participate. Amazingly the experiment had come through and they were actually getting younger each year. Then, in 2085 the friends had become teenagers with no clue as to what will happen once they reach age zero and will soon be too young to care after themselves. Who will provide them with the care that they need?
I also read the book that Ryan read. I think that his blog was very interesting and I agree with everything that he said.

Riding the Flume by Patricia Curtis Pfitsch
Book Review
Victoria Valleau
"Riding the Flume" written by Patricia Curtis Pfitsch is a thrilling book that will keep you on the edge of your seat! This is one of my favorite books because of the suspense and you can continue reading it and learn more each time.
In 1894 a fifteen year old girl named Francie notices her sister's handwriting on an old seqoia stump but is confused because her sister, Carrie died a few years back. Francie starts to look for clues about her sister's secret and discovers that she has to ride the flume, a dangerous track that moves wood from the mills in the mountains to St.Joseph.
I like this book because it always kept you wondering what Francie would do and was very unpredicatble. I think that many teachers would enjoy reading this book because one of my former teachers asked me if she could borrow it! I would definately read other books by this author because I really like the way she writes and if it is anything like Riding the Flume I am sure I would enjoy it.
I read a book called "The Giver" written by Lois Lowry."The Giver" is a book written and published on April 16, 1993. The book takes place in a community in the future. This community is supposed to be a utopia but ends seems like a dystopia. The community has a plan called sameness which takes away color, emotional depth, weather, mountains, hills, etc.,
"The Giver" is a book about a boy named Jonas who is chosen to study under a man named the giver. The giver is the only man in futuristic community who has the memories of war and suffering, but also beautiful things and colors that nobody in this community has any idea about. I found this book to actually be really good.
I think I would definitely and more books by Lois Lowry because of her perspective and thoughts and the way she makes you think about things

I read the book ttfn by Lauren Myracle. It's a book of instant messaging and the title stands for "ta ta for now." I liked how this book was made of IMing, so I could relate to it. It's about three friends, Maddie, Angela, and Zoe. They call themselves the winsome threesome. Everything is fine, Maddie found a new guy friend at her cousin's wedding that she started smoking pot with, Zoe has a new job, and Angela's parents are hiding something from her. Even though Zoe tells Angela that her parent's secret is probably good, Angela has her doubts. It turns out that she is moving to California. In California, she meets the horrible clingy Glendy. She keeps trying to get rid of Glendy, but nothing works. Until she rides the busses all the way back to Georgia! Back in Georgia, she lives with her Aunt Sadie. Meanwhile, Maddie got caught with her friend buying pot and got grounded for it. Zoe got grounded for getting caught with her boyfriend, Doug. And to top it off, Angela is grounded for traveling across the country on a bus. Maddie gets her friends and herself a matching gift, but you'll have to read it to find out what!
I also read the book Ryan Trimper read . It is a book for all ages. His blog was very good information on the book. If already didnt read the book i would have read after reading his blog.

I read Bud, not Buddy, by: Christopher Paul Curtis. It is a fiction adventure book during segregation times. It was a fantastic book out of all the books I've ever read, which is a lot; it would be ranked in my top three favorite books.
The book's main character is Bud and he is African-American. The title of the book is what Bud would say all the time; since his name was Bud people would call him Buddy. He thought that sounded like a pet's name so he didn't like being called Buddy. Bud is an orphan in Michigan and get's adopted by a family. His foster family locks him in a barn and while in the barn he is attacked by hornets. After being attacked Bud runs away. All he has when he runs away is a large suitcase and the clothes on his back; he has no money at all. He plans on walking from Flint, Michigan to the Grand Rapids. Bud gets a car ride to Grand Rapids by a man named Lefty. When he gets to the Grand Rapids he meets a jazz group that knows his father. His father is Mr. Calloway, and Mr. Calloway doesn't know that he even has a son. The jazz group treats Bud to a meal at a restaurant. Then you could probably guess where his father's friend's take Bud next.
Reading this book was like walking down a trail of emotions each page you either felt sad or happy for Bud. The people who would enjoy reading this book would be anyone who likes to read. I've read a lot of books like this one, but this is by far the best book. I am looking forward to finding and reading more books by this author.
Thunder From the Sea
book review
Courtney Kern
I read the book Thunder From the Sea by Joan Hiatt Harlow. This book is about an orphan boy named Thom. At the age of thirteen, he was sent to live with a new family. He rescues a Newfoundland dog and names it Thunder.
One day, the ocean pulls back and the village children scurry to collect the flopping fish. Thunder rushes over and drags all of the children back onto the land, then, a huge wave crashes down on the little town. Screaming fills the air as Thunder protects his family from danger. The huge wave pulls Thom away. Thunder rushes over, but is swept by the roaring wave. Thunder manages to save Thom and pull him back to shore. Thunder had become a hero.
Read this awesome book to find out about the "not as important parts"
I read a book named Two Hot Dogs with everything; by: Paul Haven. This is an adventure fiction book. This was a very good book, I felt as if when I was reading it I just couldn't set it down. In the very beginning, like the first chapter it's not very interesting, but the rest of the book makes up for that. In all it was a great book.
There are 3 main characters Danny, Molly, and Lucas. They are major Sluggers fans; the Sluggers are the local baseball team. The Boddlebrooks mansion was going to be destroyed but Molly, Danny, and Lucas wouldn't allow it. Boddlebrooks also invented the bubblegum that had taste and people enjoyed to chew. They end up riding their bikes for miles to see the mansion and they take a tour. Then Danny goes into a secret room and takes 3 packs of 100-year-old gum. The sluggers are not a very good team, but Danny finds that every game that he chews the gum the team wins .At the mansion there is a man living there named Seymour Sycamore, he was the sluggers shortstop when they won the World Series. When Boddlebrooks fell over dead from being poisoned he fell on Seymour Sycamore and Boddlebrooks was heavy. By being fell on it ended his career as a baseball player. Then the Sluggers make it to the playoffs and Danny continues to chew the gum, and I bet you know what is going to happen next.
I loved this book it was absolutely amazing the author hit the nail on the head with the disappointments a fan goes through liking a team that is not very good. I believe that the people who would enjoy reading this would be long time Tampa Bay Rays fans. The rays went from being the worst team in baseball for years to being the best. I've never read a book quite like this it was full of surprises, I didn't know what was going to happen next.
I read the book The Old man and the sea, by: Ernest Hemingway. It is a fictional adventure about an old man going to sea in Cuba. This book is amazing especially if you enjoy to fish because you can see the differences in the way he fishes to the way we do today.
The story starts off with an old man who is a fisherman, he only fishes alone in a small skiff, a boat. He goes 84 days without catching a fish, and he becomes to be known salao, or English for unlucky. Then the old man goes out to fish expecting not to get a fish, but he feels a tug on his line, but it wasn't a little tug it really pulled so he knew it was something big. When his fish jumped out of the water he saw it was a giant Marlin. Without a fishing rod the old man had to hold the line, which was cutting him badly on the hands. During his long journey the old man had to fight off sharks and the weather. All the man comes back with is a skeleton, but I bet you know how he will break the record with just the whole large skeleton left.
The book was so great because of the way Ernest Hemingway wrote it. The way he wrote the book is just amazing because you fell like the old man you feel like your on a boat battling a Marlin 3 times your size. As I said earlier anyone who enjoys to fish would like this book because you know what it's like to battle a fish out at sea, and what it's like to go days without catching a fish too. This is another one of those books where I've never read a book like it. I would read other books by the author and I already have.
I read the book Double Fudge by Judy Blume like Courtney Kern.My favorite part was when Fudge met his long lost cousin who acted just like him.

Freak the Mighty, by Rodman Philbrick
Book Review
Ryan Trimper
I just finished reading Freak the Mighty. The story is about two boys, Max and Kevin. Both boys have not only physical and metal limitations, and both are from broken homes. The boys are teased by their classmates too. This story deals with how they help each other to overcome these issues.
The story was told from Max's perspective and even though it had an unexpectedly sad ending, I enjoyed this story very much.
I would recommend this book for anyone in middle or high school. I'm sure I'd enjoy reading more books by Rodman Philbrck.

This amazing book that I just finished reading is called, Hairspray adapted by Tracy West. This is a Novel. This book was the best book I have ever read.
Tracy Turnblad a high-schooler, wanted to be on her favorite TV show called, The Corny Collins show. There was an audition for an opening spot on the show. So Tracy skipped school that day and went down to the station were the show was held and auditioned for the show. When Tracy got there she realized that Velma the assistant manager only let white people on the show, so Tracy fights for the Negros because they are here friends. Velma and her daughter Amber don’t like Tracy because they think she’s to big to be dancing on there show. But Tracy proved them wrong and corny Collins like how she danced and put Tracy on the show. On the show there is a guy that Tracy likes and his name is Link Larkin. Also on the show they have a Miss Teenage hairspray pageant that Tracy competes in against everybody.
The one thing I liked about this book was that it showed me that you should fight for what you believe in. I didn’t dislike anything in this book it was so good. I think middle school aged kids would enjoy reading this book. I don’t remember of any other books that reminded me of this one. Yes I would read other books by this author.

This great book that I read was called, Zoey 101 beach party adapted by Jane Mason. This book was one of the best ones I have read before.
Zoey a student at P.C.A (pacific coast academy), was at the book store one day with Nicole on of her friends and Nicole had to have a gooey pop and she tried to open it and it went all over a backpack and then Nicole had to pay for the backpack. Then Nicole was all upset, because she spent all of her money on the backpack. So then Zoey fixed up the backpack all nice and pretty, and then gave it to Nicole. Then this girl named Stacy went by Zoey and saw the design and Stacy started copying Zoeys backpack idea. Also going on that same week was everybody’s exams so Zoey was working very hard on her school exams that week. Also of the students were stressing about the exam so they asked Zoey to help them study. But when the exams were all over P.C.A was throwing a big party at the beach, the was called, Mystic Beach Bash. Zoey and all of her friends were so excited to go to the beach bash with everyone. Also they were planning to swim, have a great time, hang out with lost of people and even boogie board. But when the day of the party came they were so excited and they were already to go, but they fell asleep and they missed there ride to the beach party. Then they woke up and realized they missed there ride so they called a taxi. So the taxi came and drove them to a beach out of no were so they were all stranded. Do they ever get back to P.C.A? You will have to read the book to find out.
One thing I liked about this book was that you should never fall asleep before going somewhere. Honestly I didn’t dislike anything in this book. I think teenage kids would enjoy reading this book. Yes I would read other books by this author; she is very good at writing books.

This good book that I just got done reading is called, The Report Card by Andrew Clements. This book was very good.
Nora a girl was very smart she was all gifted classes. Also she was very smart when she was a little girl. But Nora doesn’t like doing tests anymore and that everybody makes a big deal about grades. One day she gets a report card and it was all bad grades and she made the bad grades on purpose to prove a point. Then her mom and dad looked at her report card and they were shocked because she never brought home such a bad report card. So her mom and dad were worrying about her and her school work so they went into the school and set up a conference with the principal and her teachers. But can Nora convince her parents that tests are a stupid way to measure your intelligence? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
One thing I liked about this book was that she’s trying to tell her parents that measuring intelligence by testing isn’t the right way of doing it. Personally the one thing I didn’t like was that it went back to her child hood at one point in the book and it was really confusing. I think any grade kids would like this book. This book doesn’t remind me of any other books. Yes I would read another one of is books they are very good.
The title of the book is The Young Man At Sea, by Rodman Philbrick. The subject is about a young man that has to try to catch a blue fin tuna, and the genre is adventure. I did enjoy reading this book. However it is boring at some points in the story.
This book is about a boy named Skiff and his mother dies and his fathers boat has sunk. So Skiff has to try to finds a way to get the money to buy a new boat. But its tuff to catch a blue fin tuna but along the way he needs some help. He trys his best to catch the fish he will even work from morning to night.
I liked how the boy didn’t give up it may have inspired some people, also I like to fish and be on the water so it was a good setting for me. I didn’t like that it was all based on one thing just catching the fish. But other then that it was a very good book. I think any one that is into fishing would enjoy this book. The book does not remind me of any others. I don’t really know any other books by this author.- Keith Stafford
The Sisters Grimm, the Fairy-Tale Detectives
By Michael Buckley
Book Review by Tara Densmore
I read the book The Sisters Grimm, The Fairy-Tale Detectives by Michael Buckley. It’s the first in a series of mystery and fairy-tale books.
This book is about two sisters named Sabrina and Daphne whose parents disappear, so they are sent to live with their Grandma Relda. There they find out that they’re part of a long line of Grimms dating back to the Brothers Grimm. They found out that the fairy-tales written by the Brothers Grimm were real stories. So, now that they know that they are fairy-tale detectives, their first case is to stop a rampaging giant from destroying their home.
I liked this book because I love adventures and mysteries and this book is both. Anyone who likes mysteries would like this book. This book reminds me of fairy-tales like Jack and the Beanstalk and The Wizard of Oz because some of the characters from these stories are in this book. I’ve already read the second book and look forward to reading more by this author.
Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer

The LEP is a police group of fairies whose job it is to protect fairies from humans. This adventure is about Artemis Fowl taking the fairy’s book of laws and learns their secrets to use them to kidnap a fairy for ransom.
I liked this book because I love adventures. Anyone who likes adventures would like this book too. This book doesn’t remind me of any other book I have read because it’s so unique. The book is unique because it completely changes your idea of fairies. I’ve already read the second book and look forward to reading more by this author.
The Sisters Grimm, the Problem Child
By Michael Buckley
Book Review by Tara Densmore
I read the book The Sisters Grimm, the Problem Child by Michael Buckley. It is the third book in The Sisters Grimm series.
This book is about Sabrina and Daphne Grimm finally getting a chance to rescue their parents. Their parents are captured by the leader of the Scarlet Hand, which is the group that all of the fairy-tale bad guys work for. In this book they learn who is behind the Scarlet Hand, they get reunited with a missing uncle, and they must fight a Jabberwocky. A Jabberwocky is a fairy-tale monster.
I like this book because it is an adventure fantasy and I like reading those types of books. This book reminds me of Pinocchio and Little Red Riding Hood because The Blue Fairy, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Big Bad Wolf are all in this story. I am looking forward to reading more by this author.
Book: Fruits Basket
Author: Natsuki Takaya
The title of the book is called Fruits Basket by Natsuki Takaya. It's a book that is printed in a style called Manga-style, in the right-to-left format. I loved the book!
The Sohma family has an ancient curse on them. A girl comes to live with them, named Tohru Honda. When she found out about the curse, she was then opened up to a different world. But she has to keep the secret to herself and the Sohma Family. When she has a couple of friends, Hana-chan and Ou-chan, come over for a sleepover, the Sohma family's secret is in her hands. Whenever a family member is hugged by a person of the opposite gender, they turn into their Zodiac.
I liked the book because it was in Manga-style, drawn in Anime, funny, and about a Zodiac curse upon a Japanese family. There wasn't really anything I didn't like about the book! I think some of my friends would enjoy reading this book . . . because I have a couple of friends that like Anime. This book doesn't remind me of any other book I have read. And of one that is about Zodiacs. I would defintitly read more books by this author. I enjoyed this book, so I'm pretty sure I would enjoy other books written by her.
(Especially since I read the book in one day.)

The only problem is that he has to survive the desert-like conditions and return to camp without being seen. Will Stanley find Zero? Will he make it back to camp? And if he does, will he get caught before he can find the treasure? You’ll have to find out yourself and read this really wonderful book.
I liked it when Stanley became friends with Zero, because it made it easier for Stanley to adjust to the camp and made things more bearable for both Stanley and Zero. I disliked it when Stanley was sent to Camp Green Lake when he didn’t deserve it because he didn’t really steal the sneakers. Also, I recommend this book for people who like adventures and mysteries. This book doesn’t remind me of any other book. I would read more books by this author.
A brief history of nearly everything by Bill Bryson
In this book, A brief history of nearly everything, Bill Bryson explains to us the history of science and technological advances and such. I enjoyed this book.
In the book, Bill Bryson starts out by explaining things about space. For example, he stated the theory that space could be manipulated by gravity so it bends over on itself to make it endless. He then continues on to talk about how life started out and the age of the earth itself. He also continues on to talk about dinosaurs. And then we came to be on this planet and he then gets into talking about how we discovered certain elements and used them to our advantage. He gets into talking about lead and how it affects our bodies and what it has done to the earth. If you want to see what else he talks about, you should really read this book.
I liked this book because whenever I am in science class, I will base whatever im learning on this book. I think my science teacher would enjoy reading this book because I think everyone can learn something by reading this book. This book reminds me of other books about the universe and space. I am planning on reading other books by Bill Bryson.
Dear Dumb Diary by Jim Benton is a fiction comedy.
I liked this book. Wodehouse Middle School had something wrong with the ventilation system so they had to load buses full of kids to other schools and one bus went to Mackerel Middle School. When the students from Wodehouse were at Mackerel one of the girls who was not popular at Wodehouse became popular and won the title of “prettiest.”
I liked this book because I like its funny and so are the other books in this series. There is nothing that I did not like about it. My friend Mariel would enjoy this book because she is in middle school. This book does not remind me of any other book. I would and have read a lot more books by these authors.
I also read Holes by Louis Sachar and I thought it was an amazing book, and I think it shows examples of good karma and bad karma like when the camp "counselors" are extremely mean to the kids and then finally get arrested.

Algebra the easy way by douglas downing is a very good way to improve your algebra skills.
This book is a story book and it also incorporates algebra into the story. In the book, there is a king of a land called carmorra. He and his friends, a professor, and a man named recordis try to defeat an evil gremlin who tries to confuse them with algebra. At first the algebra is easy but then it starts getting more complicated. If you want help with your algebra, then you should read this easy to understand book.
I enjoyed reading this book because it will help me with my algebra next year. I think i will read other math books by this author to help me in my math classes.
The title of the book is the series of unfortunateevents the wide window. The author is Lemondy Snicket. The subject is about 3 miserable kidsand an insane man who will stop at nothing to torture the kids, genres include childrens, gothic, and absudist friction. Well there not my favorite there great in the begining and middle but at the end it stinks.
The book starts with 3 children meeting there gurdian. she has alot of fears and they all come true every one she says. "Mr. Poe" gets aunt josephine to fall in love with him. She finds out hes playing her and hides in a cave. Real great action. i didnt like that every thing was sad and nothing happy. Id say people that like sad stories. Well book 1 and 2 thats it. Yes and i plan to read the series.
The title of the book is kidnapped book 1 the abduction. The author is Gordon Korman,
And the subject is about a girl that gets kidnapped and her only real hope is her brother. Also the genre is adventure. Yes i did like reading this book. The book is about meg and her brother Aiden, they are coming home from school when Meg gets kidnapped. She tries to escape but the kidnappers put up a good fight. Sooner or later Aiden is in just as much danger as her. So the story changes alot so you never know what happens next. What i liked about the book is it was very action packed. I didnt like that it kept going on and on. Well of course part 2 but other then that no. Yes and i already did read another book by Gorden Korman.- Keith Stafford

How to Eat Fried Worms
Thomas Rockwell
Fiction
I read the book How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell. It is about a boy named Billy Forrester. Billy Forrester is a kid who will do any dare you could think of. One day, his friend, Alan, bet him that he couldn’t eat a worm for each day for 15 days. Billy accepts the challenge. If Billy wins, Alan pays him 50 dollars! If Alan wins, Billy pays Alan 50 dollars! As the bet goes on, Billy starts to like the wormy taste. However, although Billy likes them now, Alan starts to make Billy worm out of the bet by many cheating attempts. Can Billy win 50 bucks? Read this awesome book to find out.
I liked it when Billy starts to like the taste of worms because you don’t expect him to like the taste. After awhile he even gets hooked on worms! That is so unexpected that it’s funny, and it’s my favorite part of the book. I disliked it when Alan starts to cheat, even though it gives the book much more suspense because you start to wonder if Billy can win. I recommend this book for people who enjoy funny reads. This book doesn’t make me recall any other book. I would read more books by this author.

I read the book The Giver. I thought it was a good book. It was futuristic. This book is not my type of book. I do not like the futuristic books. The main character is Jonas. He is chosen as the Receiver of the Memory. This is a high honor. He helps his family take care of Gabriel. He is a boy who has trouble sleeping. Jonas ends up saving Gabriel and taking him with him to a place that seems like Christmas with lights and snow.

Comeback Kids
Mike Lupica
Fiction
I read the book Mike Lupica’s Comeback Kids. This book is mostly about two boys, Scott Parry and Chris Conlan. Scott was a kid who was good at school. One day he joins the football team! No one could believe it. The quarterback, Chris, becomes friends with Scott. Chris was amazing at football. One day, Scott’s dad painted a field in his yard. He invites Chris sometimes to practice. The same day is when Chris finds out Scott’s secret. Soon Scott knows Chris’s secret, and his is worse and may even be off the team. Both boys try to help each other. Can these two boys help each other? What are their secrets? And if they help each other, will Chris still be off the team? You’ll have to read this amazing book to find out what happens.
I liked it when Scott joined the team because that is not expected for someone who is so good at academics. I disliked it when they laughed when he joined the team. I recommend this book for people who like football or sports. This book reminds me of a book called Emergency Quarterback. I would read more books by this author.

The Chocolate Touch is about this boy named John and he's obsessed with chocolate. His parents take him to the hospittal because he has this rash on his arm and the doctor says its because he doesn't eat healthy. So when they get back to the house his parents yell at him taht he needs to eat more healthy food. He got really mad at them so he left home for a while and went for a walk. Instead of turning left at this street that he usually turns at he turned rite and on the street he found this strange coin with a fat boy on it. So he was walking down the street when on the left side there was this candy store so he went up to the window and gazed at all of the chocolate then he saw a man inside he thought that was strange because he thought that the candy store would be closed on sunday. He went in and the man asked him what he wanted and he said he can't because he didn't have any money but the coin that he found the man looked at it and he was like thats the only kind of money i take so he looked at this really big box and he thought that it would have ben filled with candy but then when he got home to discover that there was only a small piece of chocolate in it so he ate it and it was the best pieceof chocolate that he has ever tasted in his life. The next morning he went to brush his teeth and as soon as he put the tothbrush in his mouth the paste turned to chocolate and the whole rest of the day watever he ate or touched with his lips turned to chocolate.

I read the book "Tunnel in the Sky" by Robert A. Heinlein. THe book is about a high school student named Rod Walker in the future, and has to take a survival course which means he must be sent to another planet called "Terra" aka "Earth", and must, survive for a period of 2 weeks but when something goes wrong Rod Walker and the other groups of high school and university students must all come together to make their own colony, they end up staying on Terra for a year.
I really like this book because of the symbolism and mataphorical literature it conveys, and I think I would read more from Robert Heinlein. I would also reccommend this book to anybody who gets bored easily during reading cause this has alot fo action that'll surely keep you reading.

I read Class Favorite by Taylor Morris. The main characters are Sara, Kirstie, and Arlene. Arlene and Sara are best friends. Kirstie is the new girl, and tries to turn Sara against Arlene. The book starts on Valentine's Day. Sara's mom sent her flowers with a message about getting her period. Arlene was the only person she told, and later that day everyone knew what the message said. Kirstie told Sara that Arlene told, so Sara would be Kirstie's friend. Sara's goal for the year was to be voted "class favorite", an award given to the most popular person. She had alot of emberassing mistakes, but did she reach her goal? Read the book to find out!
Like Ryan Trimper did, I also read the book, Freak the Mighty. Yes, it did have a sad ending...I also saw the movie, which didn't include A LOT of stuff from the book. I like the book, but it didn't help reading it in Critical Thinking class!

Heat, by Mike Lupica
Book Review
Ryan Trimper
I just finished the book Heat, by Mike Lupica. Mr. Lupica also writes a sports column for the New York Daily News and is on Sports Reporters on ESPN.
The story is about Micheal Arroyo, a Cuban immigrant who is 12 years old. He came to America with his father Victor and older brother Carlos. Micheal's father has worked with him everyday to be a fantastic baseball player, a pitcher, which is why I can relate to him.
Something very unexpected happens to Papi (Micheal's father) and 17 year old Carlos is left to care for himself and Micheal. Both are frightened throughout the story that someone "official" will come and take the boys away and separate them. The only thing that keeps Micheal grounded is baseball.
I really enjoyed this as my last book to review. It made me feel like anyone can overcome even though faced with such horrible obstacles. I would recommend it for anyone, especially baseball or softball players.
Thanks for reading my review,

I have read the book Maniac Magee that ryan trimper read. What was most interesting was that Maniac Magee was always runing and never stopped only for food and to read.
Like Douglas Ortner i read the book Holes. The book is interesting because Stanly Ylnats was accused of staeling some new shoes that a kid nikenamed Zero stole and throw off a bridge.
Toni Gualandri on The Report Card by Andrew Clements that was read by Krista Stafford. I too thought it was a really good book but I didn't understand why she didn't want everyone to know how smart she was...I would be proud to super smart.
