Earning the points and getting credit

Many of you are curious about how this point earning is going to work... I'm keeping track of the different blog comments and emails that have been coming in over the summer.

Sometimes your book reviews are in email and sometimes they are comments on the blog - either way that's fantastic and you earn 3 points per review. If you do three reviews, I'll round up and give you 10 points and you are done for the summer! I know there is a difference in the points on the website and that is my mistake. I can only edit the website from school and I haven't been there since June.

When you do the different graphic organizers, you can email them as an attachment, email me your answers, or turn them during the first week of school. Either option you pick is ok with me.

If you have your own blog, email me the address - I would love to take a look and get you the points. (VMSreads@yahoo.com)

Overall, I'm impressed with you guys and I can't wait to meet you at the summer reading celebration! Feel free to leave questions/comments. I promise to be more on the ball in these last few weeks of summer!

The title of the book is The Young Man At Sea, by Rodman Philbrick. The subject is about a young man that has to try to catch a blue fin tuna, and the genre is adventure. I did enjoy reading this book. However it is boring at some points in the story.
This book is about a boy named Skiff and his mother dies and his fathers boat has sunk. So Skiff has to try to finds a way to get the money to buy a new boat. But its tuff to catch a blue fin tuna but along the way he needs some help. He trys his best to catch the fish he will even work from morning to night.
I liked how the boy didn’t give up it may have inspired some people, also I like to fish and be on the water so it was a good setting for me. I didn’t like that it was all based on one thing just catching the fish. But other then that it was a very good book. I think any one that is into fishing would enjoy this book. The book does not remind me of any others. I don’t really know any other books by this author.

My book title is Goat in the Garden. It was written by, Ben M. Balgio. The main subject of this book is that a young girl and her friend attempt to help save a goat from getting in alot ofr trouble. I really enjoyed reading this book!
Thid book was about a girl named Mandy Hope. She helps her parents treat many different animals. She loves to give animals the love and kindness that they deserve! She loves helping animals so much that even outside the clinic that her parents worked in she was helping animals as much as possible! Mandy and her friend James love a black goat named Houdini, although He is a very large mischief maker. But, he is in big trouble he has been sneeking into someone else's garden, Mr. Western. Soon after Mr. western takes matters in his own hands. Then Mady and James Aim to save Houdini!!!
I love this book because Mady and James really care and I belive, that everyone should care just as much as them! And i think what the book was really trying to tell people is that everyone should care no matter who or what it is! This book is one of a kind and really doesn't remind me of any books that I've read! but i think everyone should read it it is a great book!

The title of this book is Kidnapped, Book one:The Abduction, By Gordon Korman. This book is about a brother and a sister, Aiden and Meg. This book was wonderful. However at some parts it was some what hard to understand.
It all started on a normal walk home from school. Meg and Aiden where walking home a van pulled up like that meg was gone. Kidnapped! Aiden was scared he had no way to stop it. he was the only one who could find her, for he was the only witness to his sisters abdoction. he doesn't know why meg was kidnapped. So Aiden teams up with the FBI and they all try to find her...no!
I haven't read book two so I do not know exactally know what happend to Meg. I liked this book alot because it had so much adventure and mystery. I also love it because Aiden never waits a second to find hit sister. Anyone who likes mystirious reality events should deffinitally read the kidnapped series!

The title of the book is Choose your own Adventure: Mayday! Written by: Edward & Andrea Packard. The Subject is about you being a Co-Pilot choosing your own Adventure. The genre of the book is Adventure. The book was a little confusing but other than that i liked it.
This book is about you, you choose what happens next! You are at your cousins Eddie in Alaska for your summer vacation; he is a pilot there and flies supplies for small villages and for science stations. So you go up with him a couple times and everything goes perfect. On the end of your vacation you go up one more time and from then on you choose what happens next.....In my adventure a snowstorm started and we had to fly over the clouds and find a hole to fly down .And we did find one and all the boxes from the back hit Eddies head and he becomes unconscious and you have to fly the plane...
I liked this book because I also like airplanes and flying adventures. I didn't like that my way ended so fast. People would read it that like airplanes and Adventures books. This book has the same setup like a book I read in Germany "1000 Wege". I don't know any other books by this Author.

The title of the book is 100 Days 99 Nights written by Alan Madison. The subject of the book is a girls father goes to war and she tries to help on the home front. The genre of the book is Drama. This book was very good and is very educational.
This book is about Esme, she is about seven years old and her father is in the military. So that means Esme has been all over the world like South Korea, Kenya, Germany and the good ol' U.S.of A. that’s how she calls it. Esme has a stuffed Animal collection where she has an animal for every letter of the Alphabet, like A- Aardvark/B- Bandicoot/C- Cat, Cow, Camel/...etc. At the beginning of each chapter, she talks about how she got each stuffed animal. One day Esme's father has to go to war for 100 days and 99 nights. When her father is gone and she is studying WW2 in Social Studies she learns about the home front (which are the people who help the Soldiers at war by sending supplies). So she starts a metal drive to get metals that she can give to the army to make Armor. If you read the book you will find out what happens at the end.
What I liked about the book is the whole setup and I think it is good that the girl sets up a metal drive which helps the soldiers. There is nothing that I didn't like about the book. People would read the book if they like family stories. No this book doesn't remind me of any other books. I probably would read other books by this author.

The title of the book is: A Plymouth Partnership: Pilgrims and Native Americans written by Susan Whitehurst. The subject is Pilgrims and Native Americans and the Genre is History. Yes I liked the book because I think it is amazing how these two different worlds got along.
The book is about how the Pilgrims and the Native Americans got along. Starting with how the Pilgrims first came and were scared by the Native Americans because they didn't look like people they were used to. So thinking that, they still built the colony not thinking anything would happen. But when the winter came half of the pilgrims died because of the cold and they didn't know how to farm on the land. So in the spring, the pilgrims and the Native Americans came slowly together and the Native Americans helped them with all their problems. One day the pilgrims invited the Native Americans to sign a peace treaty. After a couple months they had a big festival where the chief came with 70 men to have the festival. They partied for three days straight.
I liked the book because my mother was born in the Plymouth area which made the book even more interesting. I visited the Plymouth plantation when I was younger and found the history of the pilgrims interesting. I disliked nothing about the book. Anybody who likes history would like to read the book. This book doesn't remind me of any other book I’ve read. I don't know any other books by this Author.
